Chase: Week 2 Project::2

ask.
Pray and ask God what He is calling you to do, to say, or to be that you have not previously considered because of fear or a hard heart.

Write down the things that are brought to mind or pressed on your heart.

Acts 28:27

Week 2 of the Chase

Last week as we began our bible study series, Chase, we took a look at 1 Samuel 16: 1-13 which is the anointing of King David. “And the Spirit of the LORD rushed upon David from that day forward ” (1 Samuel 16:13). This single fact would go on to define every moment of the rest of this man’s life, every psalm he would write and every obstacle he would overcome. What did it mean for David that the Spirit of God was on him? We focused on what this meant for David's identity and ours. Identity is found in the distinct characteristics that set us apart or give us worth.

This week we moved forward to 1 Samuel 17: 1 -51. We looked at the courage David's faith gave him as he stood against Goliath. We all face lions, tigers, and bears... oh my! in our lives and we talked about how God gives us strength to overcome any of life's giants. What in this world do we have to fear if we have God with us. Read through this psalm and consider what David believed his God could do, Psalm 27.

Project 1 for week 2
Consider these three verses before answering the questions that follow:

1 Samuel 16:13
2 Timothy 1:7
Acts 1:8

Compare the power given to David with the power given to those who believe in Christ. Why do we limit the Holy Spirit’s voice and power in our lives?

Prayer: That God may strengthen you where you are and give you courage so that we may glorify Him in Jesus name, Amen.

CHASE: Wednesday Night Bible Study Series

Project 1:   be.

Psalm 46:10

It is hard to make the time and the space and to make our worlds quiet. We have to fight for it. It was in the quiet of the hills that an intimate relationship between David and God was born. It was when David was alone.

Get alone with God, with no agenda. Go outside and sit; turn off your phone. Pray and be with God. Confess your dependence. Thank Him. And listen.

Psalm 121:1-2

End of the Year Update

Hello everyone!

As this academic year is coming to an end, LSF would like to celebrate the wonderful year we had! This school year we volunteered at several places including Habitat for Humanity, Loaves and Fishes, Coyote Hill, Granny’s House, and several members had the opportunity to serve on a mission trip to Nicaragua. Throughout the year, LSF also hosted many game and movie nights with lots of fellowship, yummy snacks, and pizza.

First semester we helped place the siding on a house being built by a local Habitat for Humanity Organization. We hosted a Christmas party at Pizza Hut with families at Coyote Hill and gave the children presents. We also had several opportunities to serve at a local soup kitchen with Loaves and Fishes. Our semester commenced with a Christmas party at Pastor Kent’s house. We played lots of fun Christmas games and over-ate on all of Jen’s wonderful food and sweets.

Having fun at the Pierce's Christmas party

This spring semester, we started our semester’s fellowship with a Super Bowl party at Pastor Kent’s house. We also had a great time and over-ate on all of Jen’s wonderful food. Again. We continued our volunteering with Loaves and Fishes. We had an afternoon with the children at Granny’s House, helping them make witness bracelets. Granny’s House is a place where children can go after school to play learn about God in the process. Campus Lutheran also sent a mission team to Nicaragua over spring break. You can read more about our mission team at clc2nicaragua.blogspot.com. We attempted to have our annual Putt Putt and Picnic, but it unfortunately got rained out. We instead held our picnic as a barbecue during the week at Campus Lutheran Church.
